Patient FAQs

What are the requirements of becoming a Chiropractor?
In order to become a chiropractor, you must attend a chiropractic doctoral program that is typically 10 semesters that are completed in just under 4 years. The education is equivalent to that of a medical doctor, however there is a greater emphasis on supporting the body to heal itself. Medical doctors learn how to prescribe medication and/or how to perform surgery. A Doctor of Chiropractic learns how to manipulate the spinal and extremity joints to provide improved nervous system communication, promoting healing throughout the body. Chiropractors also spend a significant amount of time learning how to support health through proper nutrition, exercise, and other natural forms of self-care.
Can Chiropractic treatment help with ear infections?
Chiropractors cannot claim to cure or heal ear infections directly. However, they are capable of improving lymphatic flow and improving circulation around the ear which often prevents ear infections or reduces the severity of an active infection.
Can I bring my child for an adjustment? What is the earliest age?
Chiropractic is considered safe and effective for adolescents and even infants. We encourage starting kids early and exposing them to chiropractic to help them tackle the challenges of growing. Treatment for a child is slightly different than an adult. Growth plates don’t typically fuse until a child is 14 to 18 years old. Chiropractic care can help facilitate the body’s ability to adapt to the stresses of growth. We are also seeing younger individuals struggling with the overuse of technology and being sedentary during the day. On the other hand, we also support children that are in sports and other physical activities. It’s never too early to focus on spinal health! The youngest patient seen in our office was only 4 days old.
Will Chiropractic treatment relieve my headaches?

Chiropractic care has been shown to provide significant relief in patients that suffer from headaches. There are many causes for different types of headaches, which can be determined through an initial appointment. Addressing the muscles, bones, and nerves in the head and neck can be very helpful in the management of chronic headaches.

How long do I need to come for treatments?

The length of a treatment plan is determined by a patient’s complaints, health history, response to treatment, and health-driven goals. We develop treatment plans on an individual basis- not all bodies are the same! A patient’s accountability for at-home care also dictates the frequency and need for treatment.

At Body Logic, we recommend chiropractic care to be a part of your lifestyle. We believe that routine care for the spine and extremities promotes overall health and wellness of the body. We want to help you move better, feel better, and live better!

Do you recommend hot or cold applications after treatment?

Hot or cold? Which is best?! It often depends on the situation. Typically, when an acute injury is involved, icing the area of complaint is the best approach. Nerves don’t like inflammation, and cold therapy helps reduce inflammation and help reduce pain levels. Heat helps to improve blood flow and relax an area of tension, helping more often in chronic conditions. If you’re unsure which to do, try both! Your body will let you know which is preferred. You can also alternate between the two to give your body a “vascular exercise.” Ice for 20 minutes, rest for 20 minutes, heat for 20 minutes. As always, if you have a question regarding your condition, just ask!

Do you take insurance?

At Body Logic, we participate with a couple of major insurance companies. We are in-network with BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, and Medicare/Humana. Each insurance plan has different benefits and costs. We will work with you to find out if your insurance has chiropractic benefits with our office.

If you do not have insurance coverage, we offer “time of service” rates for different treatments. A typical adjustment visit is $45. If other treatment methods are warranted, there may be different costs involved. We will keep you informed of your expected costs as you work through your individualized treatment plan.

Will Chiropractic care help me with my performance in sports?

Absolutely! We always encourage athletes, young and old, to incorporate chiropractic care in their health maintenance. Whether treating an injury or simply enhancing performance, chiropractic is a safe and effective method of care. The health of the muscles, joints, and nerves has a direct impact on performance.

Can Chiropractic treatment help with my foot pain?

Possibly! Foot pain can come from a variety of conditions. Our doctors can diagnose the cause of the pain through an examination of the foot, leg, hip, and back. We pride ourselves in knowing what we can and cannot help. If it is deemed necessary to see an orthopedist or podiatrist, we will provide that referral.

What do treatment plans typically include?

After your initial examination, our doctors will put together a Report of Findings and recommended treatment plan to be reviewed at your next visit. Most treatment plans include a combination of adjustments, manual therapy/massage, and stretches/exercises. Treatment plans are a dynamic process and can be adapted as necessary throughout a course of care. We like to give homework! And the more you take care of yourself at home, the faster we can progress through a treatment plan. Of course, if more or different care is necessary, we will adapt accordingly.

Do you take TriCare?

If we could, we would! Unfortunately, TriCare does not provide chiropractic benefits outside of military facilities. We provide “time of service rates” for any patients that pay for their care without utilizing insurance. Keeping our rates affordable helps us serve the community, especially the men, women, and families that sacrifice themselves for our freedom.

Can I bill my massage through my health insurance?

Possibly! We recently changed our structure, so our beloved massage therapists are working alongside our chiropractors. If you have a BCBS or Cigna policy, we can research your policy benefits and let you know if we can!

I'll be paying out of pocket. How much does it cost? (massage and chiro)

Cost of care if dependent upon many factors including the forms of treatment needed in your plan. In general, the combination of an adjustment and 60-minute massage would cost $105.

Is chiropractic safe?

Yes, chiropractic care is a safe and effective form of treatment for many musculoskeletal conditions. In fact, studies have shown that spinal manipulation is significantly more effective and less dangerous than the use of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatories such as Aleve and Ibuprofen). Our doctors perform thorough consultations and examinations to rule out any contraindications for chiropractic care. If there are any “red flags,” we will refer for imaging or other testing to ensure chiropractic care is safe for you.

Can I get massage/chiropractic care when I'm pregnant?

Chiropractic care and massage is very helpful for a woman during pregnancy. The body endures significant changes and challenges in a very short 9-month period. Chiropractic treatment can help alleviate some of the general discomforts felt as the body changes. Maintaining proper spinal and pelvic alignment helps to support a healthy delivery. It is recommended that you wait until the 2nd trimester to begin massage; however, chiropractic care is safe at any point in the pregnancy. If you are a current patient and are planning to grow your family, we encourage you to let us know! Not only can we help with the physical challenges, but we can also provide guidance related to supporting a healthy lifestyle while trying to become pregnant.

Can I still be treated if I've had back/neck surgery?

Absolutely! It is often our goal to prevent the need for back or neck surgery, however sometimes it is necessary. Chiropractic care is still a safe and effective form of treatment post-op. Treatment techniques may be adapted based on the type of surgery and our doctors are trained to know what is safe and effective. The information you can share regarding previous surgical interventions the more helpful it is to determine the best form of treatment for you.

What stretches should I be doing?

Stretches and exercises are a part of our treatment plans for most patients. In general, people are sitting too much and not stretching enough. The types of stretches to be included in treatment may be individualized to patient. We encourage stretching but want to ensure you are stretching properly and hurting yourself or hindering improvements. Our doctors and chiropractic assistants will work with you to determine the best stretches for you. To access videos explaining some of our favorite stretches and exercises, click here.

What if I injure myself (have an acute injury) in-between visits?

Accidents happen! If you have an injury in-between your last appointment and your next, please call our office and let us know! We may try to get you in sooner for an appointment and/or need to adapt your appointment type to allow for further evaluation and care based on the new injury. The more we know in advance, the better!

What does home care look like? Ice, heat, etc.

There are many different types of homecare that we recommend for our patients. Stretches and exercises are almost always included. Other tools such as a foam roller, neck orthotic, and ice or heat therapy may be recommended. Nutritional recommendations or supplementation may also be included depending our your treatment plan and goals.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

If you need to cancel an appointment, please call the office as soon as you know. We understand that last minute things come up! However, we do have a 24-hour cancellation policy meaning you will be charged $20 if you cancel less than 24 hours prior to your appointment. We will do our best to get you rescheduled as soon as possible.
