What Is Activator Method?
Activator method uses a spring loaded instrument to restore mobility to the joint. The device is very precise, and easily restores motion in the joints. With other methods, the patient may be moved around quite a bit, which isn’t always optimal for the patient. However, with activator method, little movement on the patient’s part is required.
This effective technique is very comfortable and can be used for a wide range of patient needs. For example, if a patient is in significant pain they may not be able to position their body comfortably to receive a manual adjustment. Instead they can lay flat on the table and the doctor can position the angle of the Activator to mobilize the joint in the right direction. And for those patients who don’t like the “cracking” noise of the manual adjustment, the only sound with this technique is the clicking of the tool. So you can still receive your adjustment without the “snap, crackle, pop!”
The activator looks like a tiny pogo stick, with a rubber “foot” on the end. This foot is pressed against the affected area, and the activator is pressed down on the spot until the spring within releases the foot. This quick pressure will adjust the area. The activator technique is a low force chiropractic method.
