Detoxifying Smoothie Recipes

What does the new year mean to you? For many people, it means resolutions to restore their health. Although we may not want to admit it, we all know that good nutrition is the foundation to good health. The problem for many of us is… well, we just didn’t eat that well in 2016. So, the best rule of thumb is “out with the old and in with the new.” It is important to put foods into our body that allow it to clean itself up and restore proper digestive function.
Here are a few amazing smoothie recipes that will help give your digestive system the foods and rest that it needs to come back fighting for you and your health!

Directions
For all smoothies, be sure to blend all ingredients thoroughly and remember that it is always best to save some of the liquid until the end because you can always add more to help the blending process, but no one likes a super runny smoothie!

Kale and Apple Green Detox Smoothie
⅔ cup almond milk (unsweetened)
¾ cup ice
1 ½ cups kale (chopped)
1 stalk celery (chopped)
½ red or green apple (cored and chopped)
1 tbsp ground flax seed
1 teaspoon honey (optional)

Green Protein Detox Smoothie
½ cup unsweetened almond milk
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 banana
2 cups mixed greens (I like kale, chard and spinach)

Tummy Tamer Smoothie
1 cup papaya
1 cup coconut kefir, coconut yogurt or cultured coconut milk
juice from ½ lime
1 tbsp raw honey

Strawberry-Grapefruit Smoothie
2 ounces of water, if needed
1 grapefruit, peeled and deseeded
10 medium strawberries
1 banana, peeled
2 cups baby spinach
