What Is Flexion/ Distraction Technique?
Flexion Distraction Technique uses a specialized treatment table that bends at the waist while the patient is laying face down. The doctor uses one hand to move the table up and down, while the other hand contacts the patient’s spine, allowing the doctor to target each joint of the lower back individually. This results in a decompressive effect on the lower back while simultaneously creating improved joint motion and stretching the deeper layers of muscles in the back. This decompressive effect is very effective when treating disc injuries, and creates a stretch to the deeper layers of spinal musculature that are very difficult to effectively stretch on your own.
Who Is This For?
Anyone with lower back pain from any cause, including disc degeneration or herniations, tight muscles, arthritis, or recent injury. This technique is especially beneficial for people with disc problems because of the decompression it creates.
